Apologies for the sputtering out at the end, but Kuba and I have been getting progressively more busy with work and real life and just haven’t had the time for regular updates. And I was taking way too long to get fights finished.

I hope everyone had fun, I’m pretty sure this was the longest round ever for PM. I had a lot of fun reffing and coding the new browser game features.

I’m hoping to start another round in two or three months, so if you’re interested in reffing next round, let me know. We’ll need at least one person to be the main ref – reffing the starting planet and fights. But I’ll still be available to ref the Next Dimension and fights as well.

I wish I had the time to do some big end of round event like a tournament or something. If you all have any ideas I’m all ears. I’m not going to delete characters or anything until the next round, so feel free to keep playing around if you’d like. And if you want your character moved to Earth, the Moon, or Vegeta, let me know.

How is everyone feeling so far with the automation combined with the email updates? Anything I can do to improve the flow of things? Do you guys feel like it’s working well, or is it adding more confusion?

I’d appreciate any and all feedback/thoughts on how it’s going 🙂

I’m going to need another couple of days to get myself situated as the new earth ref. I know a few of you have fights pending – I’ll try and get those done asap. To help me keep organized, please email me at [email protected] your latest update.

If all goes well I should be able to start sending out updates this coming Wednesday (the 21st). I’ll make another announcement once the new round of email updates get sent out to make sure I don’t miss anyone.

My tentative plan is to have map movement working by then, allowing you 3 movements per day. Seifer and I have also been working on getting an NPC chat system up and running which will help offload a lot of the reffing work on my end. It should allow for conversations and obtaining quests from the NPC, so if you come across an NPC with the “Chat” button, go ahead and click it and try it out. If it doesn’t work that just means I haven’t set that NPC up yet.

Dalun is officially stepping down as earth’s ref for this round, and I’ll be taking over. Big, huge, giant thanks to Dalun for asking me about six months ago if he could ref a round. We wouldn’t be back without him and the monstrous time commitment reffing takes.

My plan is to take it a bit easy for the next week or so – I’ll need to get things organized to handle your updates, and I need to flesh out the planets you guys plan to fly to now that space travel is open. It will also be a bit of an experiment in automating more of the game, and creating new ref tools to make reffing easier and more convenient.

New Refs/Staff

Depending on how much time the volunteer(s) have, it would either be for full on reffing a planet(s) or just reffing fights. I also really need someone to talk to about the hidden mechanics of the game, so you’d be involved in discussions for the next round’s changes.

You’ll be able to keep playing this round, but before this round is over I’ll start involving you in the ref side of things, which would mainly be reffing fights.

This Round’s Future

I would like to keep the current round going for a few more months if possible, but as time goes on I’m going to have less and less free time. Dast and I started a business about a year and a half ago and we’re taking on more and more clients.

Beyond the current round, I’d like to keep Planet Mado going for as long as we can, but I won’t be able to do it by myself. So let me know if you’re interested and we can talk about more details in private and see if it’s something that’ll work out!

Apologies for taking so long to make an “official” update on this (I’ve mentioned it a few times in Discord), but sparring with other players and training under a master are now implemented into the browser game.

If you’re at the same location as a master, when you click on their avatar a “Train” button will show up in the modal:

It uses the same timer as self training does, so you will have to choose between self training and training under a master. The master also needs to be stronger than you to be able to train you.

To spar with another player, click on their avatar, then click the “Spar” button in the modal:

Sparring also uses the same timer as self training and master training, so you’ll have to choose which one you want to do. If either you or the player you’re challenging to a spar has self trained or master trained for the current time block, you won’t be able to spar.

The other player will get an alert that you’ve challenged them to a spar, and they can accept or decline:

If they accept, you’ll get an update inside of your chat box detailing the sparring gains:

I’m working on cleaning up and consolidating some of the elements on your stat pages. You should now be able to click on your character’s avatar on the map to open options like self training, meditate, self repair, and fly. You can also manage your inventory:

I’m planning on adding Hide Powerlevel too, but I’ve run into some issues getting it to work at the moment.

Eventually I’d like to remove the ‘Actions’ section on the stat page itself so that it’s only accessible through the map. Same with the inventory.

If anyone is against this let me know, I don’t want to make it a pain in the butt to self train and meditate throughout the day.
