Tomorrow (April 5th) I’m going to create tournament versions of your characters for you to use. You’ll be able to move around the map and interact with the other players, and all powerlevel gains will be frozen until the tournament is over. I’ll be adding a link on your stat page that will go to your tournament character.

Check out Seifer’s post on the forum to read a draft of the proposed rules and game play. Any and all feedback is welcome 馃檪

Dalun is going to be out of town starting tomorrow April 4th for close to two weeks, so Seifer and I are going to put together this round’s first tournament!

We’ll let you know more details once we have more planned out and decided, but so far we’re thinking you’ll use your current character for the tournament. If you have any ideas or thoughts let us know.

Dragonball Radar Added

I finished adding a working Dragonball Radar to the game.

dragonball z dragonball radar

I finished adding a working Dragonball Radar to the game. If you have a radar in your inventory, you can click on it, then click “Activate Radar” and the dragonballs will all show up on your map. Their locations on the map correspond to the direction the dragonballs are in.

For now the radar doesn’t need to be equipped to use it, but I’m leaning towards changing it to need to be equipped to use.

New Inventory System

I'm slowly but surely knocking out bits and pieces of the new inventory system.

dbz saiyan armor

I’m slowly but surely knocking out bits and pieces of the new inventory system. Tonight I worked on getting weighted clothing and armor added, so if you notice you’re missing some items in your regular Items spot, check the “Map & Chat” area for the new inventory system.

You can equip, unequip, drop, and pick up items.

I just implemented a new ‘slot’ system so that you can’t wear multiple of the same item in the same spot. Right now armor and weighted shirts use the same slot, so you can’t equip both. I’m on the fence either way on that – I know traditionally we’ve allowed both to be worn at the same time. But does that make sense? I can see either way but I’d like everyone’s thoughts on that.

Updating Other Player Map Visibility

I've updated the map rendering so that for players and NPCs not on the same tile as you, they now show up as a question mark with no name or race information, unless you know the ability Detect Powerlevel.

Scouters and Power Keisoku still work the same, showing other player’s powerlevel, but you now need Detect Powerlevel and to have met the person before for their avatar and name to show up when they aren’t at the same coordinate as you.

In this screenshot, Dast has a scouter and knows Detect Powerlevel, but has never been to the other person before:

Dragonball Z Goku and Vegeta fighting

Most of you have experienced it by now in your fights – Seifer had a cool idea a month or so ago about adding combo attacks to the fighting system since we can now program those things into the Planet Mado Combat System that Seifer created (here’s the forum post if you’re interested).

Similar to most of Planet Mado’s systems, the exact details will be for players to explore on their own. But to give an idea of how it works – generally lower damage physical attacks will have the best chance of triggering a combo. If you successfully roll a combo you get an extra attack that turn to keep attacking your current target, and it is possible to chain the combo.

Since this is brand new we’ll most likely be adjusting the numbers here and there, if you have any input on the system after using it in your fights please provide any feedback you have.

Timezone Update in the Code

I updated a lot of the code yesterday and last night, and part of that was updating how the time works for your last date trained, last date meditated, and last repair date (the new absorb android mechanic).

dbz clock

I updated a lot of the code yesterday and last night, and part of that was updating how the time works for your last date trained, last date meditated, and last repair date (the new absorb android mechanic). I can set the timezone now, so I’ve set it to central time.

If anyone missed out on a self train, meditate, or repair, let me know and I’ll manually update your character page for one missed train/meditate/repair.

Absorb Androids Healing Update

Absorb androids no longer automatically heal to full after 72 hours like other races.

Dragonball Z Androids 19 and 20 with an explosion behind them

Absorb androids no longer automatically heal to full after 72 hours like other races. Instead they have an option for Self-Repair. It’s on the same timer as self-training, four six-hour time blocks. The base version of this ability costs the android 5% of their base powerlevel, and adds 15% of their base powerlevel to their current powerlevel. However, if the android has Repair Cells in their inventory, the Self-Repair action heals for 15% and has no cost (other than using up one Repair Cell).

I’m also working on a new inventory system – some of you with food may have seen it already:
